Remuneration
Syberscribe pay on production by line rate for the majority of our clients.
A line is the common unit of productivity and constitutes 65 characters (keystrokes) and is made up of spaces, commas, question marks and numbers etc.
The software program we commonly use will calculate line counts automatically. Payments are made via direct deposit on invoices submitted monthly.
Trial period line rate at 0.08 cpl (cents per line).
This rate applies to an MT when they initially commence. We would expect your trial period to last for no longer than two to four weeks to enable us to assess your suitability.
You would be expected to transcribe a variety of specialties and of varying levels of difficulty. All of your work will go through quality assurance for us to provide feedback where required.
Feedback should continue to be taken as a constructive learning tool and not a criticism. It is given for your benefit to help you grow and get to know your clients and the software better.
You would be expected to fulfil the minimum hours of availability which you can nominate (more if you wish).
At the end of the two weeks a decision will be made as to whether to continue or not based on your reliability, accuracy and responses to feedback. Full support will be provided during this time to give you the best opportunity.
If you are successful a line rate increase will also be allocated.
Contractor line rates start at 0.11 cpl (cents per line).
This rate applies to an MT following their trial period.
At this rate you would be expected to continue to transcribe a variety of specialties and of varying levels of difficulty. All of your work will continue to be reviewed for quality assurance and for us to provide feedback where required.
Feedback should always be taken as a constructive learning tool and not a criticism. It is given for your benefit to help you grow and get to know your clients and the software better.
After a further period of time (and there is no hard and fast time limit on this) you may be considered for direct-to-client (DTC) delivery.
Direct-to-client delivery
Once you have demonstrated a high level of accuracy, reliability and multiskill in a wide range of specialties, you may be considered for DTC rates. You will have the choice of sending a completed, proofread, and accurate file direct to the client without it having further review.
You have the choice of being able to send a file for further quality assurance (QA) if you feel it requires further review. This could be due to your not being able to identify a medical term, a drug reference, or general difficulty with the client and you would like it to be reviewed.
Syberscribe do not penalise files sent to QA. Generally this would be viewed as a strength in acknowledging the file needs further review, rather than trying to guess at what is being said and sending a substandard file back to the client.
Rates at DTC levels are based on individual performances, clients, experience and accuracy.
Hourly rates
For the few clients where we charge an hourly rate (currently medicolegal clients), the starting rate is $20 per hour. We have an estimated turnaround time for these clients and you would need to be completing this work in a timely manner within those guidelines.
Once you are up to speed with the client and have proven accuracy and minimum turn-around-time, the rate increases to $22 per hour.
